Chris is super glad to have E. back this week, and he’s walking in to a mother lode of things to talk about.
- Don Imus is back on the air this coming December. Citadel threw a lot of money at him, but will their investment show decent returns? Displaced to late mornings is Curtis Sliwa, and gone all together it seems is Ron Kuby. Humerous subplot: The I-man might – might – be getting back on television, too.
- Speaking of morning shows, Opie and Anthony might very well be on the way off terrestrial radio in Philadelphia. This is probably a good thing for them, right?
- The latest NYC ratings show CBS-FM coming back to prominence and Z100 sitting at the top of the heap.
- Air America Radio’s Randi Rhodes wasn’t attacked, contrary to what AAR’s Jon Elliott reported on the air. Elliott even went as far as to say that Rhodes was targeted by “right-wing hate machine.” Gawker has offered a very interesting account of those events – in their story the only attacker is a nasty hangover the next day.
- While left-side radio was dealing with their “attack,” Rush Limbaugh has proven why his show is where it is today. Remember that letter to Mark Mays from Harry Reid we talked about? Well, Rush is selling it on eBay, and the bids are already over $100,000.
- CBS Radio’s KFWB in Los Angeles is offering the 6-8AM portion of its schedule for sale to block programmers at the rate of $6,000 per hour. Apparently the plan is to interrupt the all-news format on Saturday and Sunday mornings for two hours. Can you imagine this at KYW or WINS?
- The Today show is going to the “Ends of the Earth.” None too soon, as the battle for morning-show dominance has never been hotter with Good Morning America.
- Fox launched their long-awaited business channel this week. Are you able to watch it yet?
- Chris and E. talk local: John Bolaris is all but confirmed to be heading to WTXF; the “results” have been released for B101’s fresh music “survey.”
- In semi-related music news: Madonna got a promotion or something, and the iTunes store is now selling DRM-free downloads for the same price as DRM.
Sadly, Chris forgot to adjust the volume on this episode’s Clip of the Week, but you can hear the clip in all its glory and context here.
The Pod 25 theme music is “Never Get Out” by Brad Sucks.
